A great atmosphere at the swearing in of four new appointees to the WA Magistrates Court Special swearing in ceremony, and morning tea for a Supreme Court Judge August 16, 2021 By Carole Kerr Four new magistrates, four swearing-ins and a busy afternoon for the Governor. A pleasure to welcome Ms Michelle Harries, Mr Matthew Holgate, Ms Sarah Oliver and Mr Cillian Stockdale to Government House, who were all appointed to the WA Magistrate’s Court, as well as to the WA Children’s Court. The four new Magistrates were sworn in, in front of family and special guests including the Attorney General the Hon John Quigley MLA, the Chief Magistrate Mr Steven Heath, the Solicitor General Mr Joshua Thompson SC and Executive Director Court and Tribunal Services, Department of Justice Ms Joanne Stampalia. Morning tea for Supreme Court Judge The Governor earlier in the day hosted a small morning tea for recently appointed Supreme Court Judge, Justice Larissa Strk. Justice Strk was officially sworn in earlier this year during a period of Covid lockdown, with today’s event a chance to enjoy a delayed celebration with family and guests including the Supreme Court’s the Hon Justice Rene Le Miere and WA’s Solicitor General Mr Joshua Thomson.
