Today’s roundtable at Government House focused on issues facing older Australians. Council of the Ageing roundtable on ‘Vulnerable Cohorts’ September 15, 2021 By Carole Kerr The third of four roundtable events focusing on issues of concern for older Australians was today held at Government House. Hosted by the Governor, in partnership with the Council of the Ageing’s (COTA WA) ‘Positive Ageing Alliance’, today’s discussion focused on ‘Vulnerable Cohorts’ within the community. Experts and representatives from a range of cohorts, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), GLBTQI, older single women, people with mental health issues and people living with disability helped lead the discussion which was facilitated by CEO of the Australian Institute of Management WA and COTA (WA) Board Director Professor Gary Martin. Two previous roundtables at Government House have centered on ‘The Great Digital Divide’ and ‘Elder Abuse’. A fourth roundtable focusing on ‘Mature Age Employment’ will be held in November.
