Queen’s Birthday 2021 Honours investiture ceremonies begin, and Executive Council meets

A wonderful celebration at Government House today, the first of three days of investiture ceremonies recognising recipients of the Queen’s Birthday 2021 Honours List.

Eighty-four inspirational West Australians will receive Honours this week, with the Governor today presenting Members (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia, Officers (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia, Australian Police Medal (APM), Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) and Public Service Medals (PSM).

Six intimate ceremonies in total will be held in the Green Room at Government House across the week acknowledging the WA recipients and the exceptional contribution they have made to the Western Australian community.

“Every day is a joy as Governor of this wonderful state but some days are even more joyous than others and the investiture ceremonies are just the best days of all,” said the Governor.

“Through these awards we are celebrating great endeavour, great generosity, great capability and great inventiveness. All the things that go towards making up the best of the Australian character.

It has been a good day, with good people honoured.”

A total of 1,190 outstanding Australians nationwide were named in the Queens Birthday Honours this year.

A meeting of Executive Council

Just prior to the investiture ceremonies the Governor presided over Executive Council, a key constitutional part of his role as Governor.

He was joined by the Hon Bill Johnston MLA Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Energy; Corrective Services, and the Hon Don Punch MLA Minister for Disability Services; Fisheries; Innovation and ICT; Seniors and Ageing.

Also in attendance was Clerk of the Executive Council Ms Viv Molan.
