Reception for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, and meeting with Rio Tinto Executive Simon Trott

Great day for a gathering in the Government House forecourt, with the Governor and Ms Annus hosting a reception for the Royal Flying Doctor Service WA.

The occasion was an update for key stakeholders and supporters on some of the recent COVID-19 deliveries to regional and remote WA, as well as an outline of some new projects to come.

The Governor, who is Patron of the RFDS WA, praised the organisation’s efforts and dedication in helping keep the people of Western Australia safe, and also acknowledged the work of grass roots supporters like Narrogin Auxiliary President Ann McLeish who has raised over $233,000 for RFDS WA by walking between towns in the WA Wheatbelt.

RFDSWA Chairman Mr Sam Walsh AO also addressed the gathering which included Deputy Premier and Minister for Health the Hon Roger Cook MLA, National Board Chair Mr Nev Power, CEO (Western Operations) Ms Rebecca Tomkinson, board members, corporate and community supporters and staff.

 

Meeting with RioTinto’s Chief Executive Iron Ore

Earlier in the day the Governor welcomed Mr Simon Trott, Rio Tinto’s Chief Executive Iron Ore, to a meeting at Government House.

Mr Trott took on the role earlier this year, moving from a previous position as Chief Commercial Officer.

Today’s meeting was a chance for Mr Trott to update the Governor on the mining group’s WA iron ore operations.
