The Governor being briefed on Perth’s bid for the 2027 Special Olympics 2027 Special Olympics bid briefing, and defence discussions October 13, 2021 By Carole Kerr A briefing for the Governor today on WA’s bid to bring the 2027 Special Olympics to Perth. The Governor met with Tanya Brown, Director of Special Olympics Australia and Kirsty Schnitzerling Director World Games Perth 2027, who were introduced by WA Cricket CEO Christina Matthews. Special Olympics Australia is pushing for Perth to hold the Games in 2027. If successful it would mark the first time the games have been held in the Southern Hemisphere. The State Games have just been held in Perth, with 85 athletes with intellectual disabilities competing for selection for the National Event in Tasmania in 2022, and also the World Games in 2023.
