Celebrating our WA 2020 Tokyo athletes at Government House

A wonderful celebration at Government House today as we officially welcomed home our WA Tokyo 2020 athletes and officials.

Sixty-five Olympians and Paralympians from WA joined officials, sporting administrators, State Government representatives and guests in the forecourt of Government House at a special reception co-hosted by the Governor and WA Premier the Hon Mark McGowan MLA.

It’s the first time since the Tokyo campaign that WA’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes have come together en masse, with today’s event a chance to acknowledge and celebrate their hard work, successes and dedication.

“Very exciting for me as Governor and as Patron of the Western Australian Olympic Council to have all these wonderful athletes at Government House. They are such an inspiration to us all and to be able to host the first official welcome home to them right here is just terrific,” said the Governor.

“A very proud day to be a West Aussie.”
