An important roundtable discussion today with Chief Executive Women (CEW) meeting at Government House Hosting a roundtable discussion with Chief Executive Women and belated US Independence Day celebrations October 20, 2021 By Carole Kerr Leadership opportunities for women in the workplace, and the need for greater gender equality and representation, was the topic of conversation today at a roundtable event at Government House. The Governor and Ms Annus, in partnership with WA Premier the Hon Mark McGowan MLA and Women’s Interests Minister the Hon Simone McGurk MLA, welcomed members from Chief Executive Women (CEW) to discuss a range of topics aimed at advocating for women to have greater presence and influence in leadership roles in both the private and public sector across Western Australia. “This was a superb discussion on women in the workplace at multiple levels and the need for larger numbers to be involved in executive positions across the board, privately and in government sectors,” said the Governor. “It was a conversation which revolved around a number of key issues including progress of women in senior positions, increasing women’s economic security, and also the critical need to address sexual harassment in the workplace and the role men need to play in standing up to stop it.” The roundtable discussion will help inform the State Government’s contribution to the development of the nationally consistent reporting framework on women’s economic security according to Minister McGurk.
