The Governor with Minister Paul Papalia MLA and Minister Reece Whitby MLA at Executive Council Meeting of Executive Council, and catching up with the Regional Development Council November 30, 2021 By Adele Hollywood Joining the Governor today for Executive Council were the Hon Paul Papalia MLA, the Hon Reece Whitby MLA and Clerk of Executive Council Ms Viv Molan. The Honourable Paul Papalia MLA is Minister for Police; Road Safety; Defence Industry; Veterans Issues. The Honourable Reece Whitby MLA is Minister for Emergency Services; Racing and Gaming; Small Business; Volunteering. The Executive Council is the supreme decision making body of Government and comprises the Governor (as Chair) and all Cabinet Ministers. The meeting allows the Governor to be briefed on the latest from the Legislative Assembly and carry out administrative requirements such as signing-off on bills passed by Parliament. Regional Development Council catch-up and briefing The Governor and Ms Annus hosted members of the Regional Development Council at Government House today for a special lunch to discuss key priorities, challenges and development strategies for regional WA. Established under the Regional Development Commissions Act 1993, the Regional Development Council is a key advisory body to the Minister for Regional Development on all regional development matters. The Council comprises the chairpersons of the nine Regional Development Commissions and the Director General of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. The Regional Development Commissions play an important role in the Governor’s Regional Visit program development and delivery.
