The Governor presents the 2021 John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library Anniversary Lecture Presenting the John Curtin Lecture and meeting with US Consul General December 6, 2021 By Adele Hollywood This evening the Governor presented the John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library (JCPML) Anniversary Lecture held at Curtin University. The annual lecture commemorates the anniversary of former Prime Minister John Curtin’s death in July 1945. The Governor with [l-r] Chancellor of Curtin University Dr Andy Crane, Vice-Chancellor Professor Harlene Hayne and Ms Catherine Clark, Director JCPML John Curtin was the only Australian Prime Minister to represent a West Australian seat in the House of Representatives and led his country during the most critical phase of World War II. The Governor was introduced by former Prime Minister and patron of the JCPML the Honourable Julia Gillard AC via live feed as current travel restrictions meant she was unable to attend in person. Meeting with the US Consul General The Governor met with Mr David Gainer, Consul General United States at Government House to discuss a range of topics including US and Australia relations. Mr Gainer has been US Consul General in Perth since August 2019.
