A visit from Foodbank and appointing a member of the District Court

Checking in with patronage not-for-profit Foodbank, the Governor had the opportunity to meet the new CEO, Ms Kate O’Hara. The two discussed the charity’s plans for 2022 and the impact COVID has had on those Foodbank helps. Ms O’Hara commented on the donation from Government House over the Christmas period, stating that the combined donations from visitors to the House saw 4,587 meals donated to Foodbank’s ‘The Sound of Hunger’ appeal.

Mr Henry Hall Jackson SC sworn in

A small ceremony was held at Government House to appoint a new District Court Judge, Deputy President of the State Administrative Tribunal, Commissioner of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and Judge of the Children’s Court of Western Australia – all of which was the one man. Mr Henry Hall Jackson SC was admitted to practice in 1998 and joined the Bar in 2007, taking silk in 2019.

He has a public and commercial practice and is a recognised expert in town planning and the associated jurisdictions of local government, land acquisition and compensation, environmental, liquor licensing, water law & public health. His appointment will ensure that the specialized areas of SAT will continue to be well served.

Mr Jackson was sworn in by the Governor in front of family, colleagues and friends.
