Image – Peter Field, WA Police Testing Technology at the State Operations Command Centre January 13, 2022 By Ashayla Dawn The Governor toured the Western Australian Police Force State Operations Command Centre (SOCC ) today, accompanied by the Minister for Police the Hon Paul Papalia CSC MLA, and WA Police Deputy Commissioner Col Blanch. Image – Peter Field WA Police Colloquially known as ‘The Bear Pit’ the centre acts as a hub for law enforcement and government agencies, including the Department of Communities and the Department of Education, allowing for deeper connectivity and collaboration across agencies. It is the strong belief of the SOCC team that by pooling resources and working closely together, the various departments can better serve the community and respond to crises. The Governor chatted with operations staff from multiple agencies to learn more about their role and how the State Operations Centre assisted their department. It was also a chance for him to get an up-close look at the extensive operations.
