“Be Prepared” for WA Scouts, EXCO and Ms Gina Williams AM

Ms Gina Williams AM today received her Member of the Order (AM) of Australia at Government House. A proud Balladong woman, Ms Williams has a long and illustrious career spanning Indigenous music, Noongar Radio (100.9FM), the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (WA), television, the arts, publications, consulting and so much more. She’s the mind behind “Wanjoo: The Welcome Song” that many students now learn in primary school and the one who composed an opera in Noongar for the West Australian Opera. She’s been inducted into the Western Australian Women’s Hall of Fame, been a West Australian of the Year Awards recipient and earned multiple arts and music awards.

The Governor was pleased to recognise her significant service to the performing arts, to Indigenous music, and to media with a small ceremony in front of family and friends.

Scouts WA Prepare for 2022

Scouts WA visit Government House

Members of the Scouts WA group, patronage of the Governor, were invited to Government House. In attendance were the outgoing CEO, Sherry Donaldson, who has served with the group for over 10 years. Accompanying her were Chief Commissioner Ayden Mackenzie, Dr Ken Michael AC KStJ, Board Chair Mr Greg Higham, Vice President Dr Scott Sargant and incoming President, Ms Kerry Sanderson AC CVO. The collective provided the Governor with an update of the organisation as well as their plans for the future.
