Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Gala showcases the best of young Perth talent February 27, 2022 By Ashayla Dawn The Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra as part of the Restart the Arts Initiative presented their Young Artists Gala. MetSO has in its long history been superb in its encouragement of both young artists and its provision of a platform for a large number of classical musicians in this state. The MetSO Young Artist (MYA program) aims to recognise, support and encourage young artists by providing opportunities for young musicians to workshops, rehearse and perform in live concerts with a full symphony orchestra for the wider community. Both the young musicians and MetSO’s horns, string and wind ensembles represented beautifully both of their capacities. The Governor and Ms Annus and the many others in attendance enjoyed a selection of compositions by Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Strauss, Grieg, Schubert, Faure, and Bozza. The young artists were Max Wung, Jesse Chester Browne, Lachlan Higgins, Zoe McGivern, Kaining Wang and Keaton Staszewski-Hose. Of the performance, the Governor stated, “They have wonderful futures ahead of them this year, but one suspects a lifetime of achievement.” Post navigation Recognising the brightest and best of Scouts WAFuture WA Leaders welcomed to Government House View all Articles
