Medical breakthroughs and a round of cricket

A lover of WA cricket the Governor was invited to attend the Governor’s XI v Lord’s Taverners XI match at the WACA. The annual fixture sees two teams, comprised of a mix of state, club and community players and behind-the-scenes club volunteers battle it out in a friendly exhibition match.

The Lord’s Taverner’s WA was formed in1980 with the aim to provide financial support to disadvantaged youth and players living with disability to play cricket or improve their skills.

As patron of both The Lord’s Taverner’s WA and the WACA the Governor was honoured to be asked to present the teams with their official caps, toss the coin and award the winning trophy.

Congratulations goes to the Governor’s XI for their victory – marking a hat trick.

Today, the Governor welcomed Mr John Barrington AM of Artrya to Government House.

Artrya is an AI-driven diagnostic support system for coronary artery disease (CAD) that was designed and developed right here in Perth. CAD, which is responsible for 9 million deaths every year, biomarkers can be quickly and accurately identified with this non-invasive equipment.

Mr Barrington will embark on a trip to the United States of America and Canada at the end of March to help with plans to set up a US clinical research program, meeting with key contacts in Washington, Boston, Ottawa, Alabama and San Diego.
