Officials gather to appoint the Honourable Justice Hugh Barron Fraser. Swearing in an active Supreme Court Judge April 4, 2022 By Ashayla Dawn The Honourable Justice Hugh Barron Fraser was today sworn in as an acting Judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia by the Governor. In attendance were the Honourable Chief Justice Peter Quinlan SC, Chief Justice of Western Australia and the Honourable Justice Michael Buss QC, President of the Court of Appeal. Hailing from Queensland, Justice Fraser was admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1979. In 1992 he was appointed Queen’s Counsel and later served on the board of the Bar Association of Queensland, as well as the Australian Bar Association and as Director of the Law Council of Australia. From 2009 to 2017 Justice Fraser served as chair of the Supreme Court Library Committee. In addition, he is a fellow of the Australian Academy of Law. In 2008 he was appointed a judge of the Queensland Court of Appeal and in 2015 served as Acting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
