The Governor appeared on the 6PR Breakfast show for an interview with Gareth Parker. Mr Parker spoke with the Governor about his accomplishments and experiences over his tenure as part of 6PR’s ‘West Aussie Great’ segment, which celebrates the achievements of Western Australians. WA Museum

The future of Boola Bardip is presented to the Governor.

The CEO of WA Museum Mr Alec Coles OBE, accompanied by the Chair of the WA Museum Board of Trustees the Honourable Melissa Parke MP, visited Government House to discuss upcoming changes to Boola Bardip.

Royal Flying Doctor Service

The unique design of the helicopter is explained to the Governor.

As a thank you for his ongoing support as patron of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), the RFDS helicopter landed in Government House Gardens to take the Governor on a scenic flight of Perth. Pilot Elaine Cadzow demonstrated an approach to landing at Royal Perth Hospital and shared some of her experiences in the role.

With services commencing in May 2021, the RFDS Fortescue Heli-Med Service has now retrieved 18 patients from locations including Bunbury, Harvey, Moora, Narrogin and Rottnest Island. Primarily it is used for hospital-to-hospital patient transfers for Western Australians living and working within a 250km radius of Perth and works alongside a fleet of 20 fixed-wing aircraft that service the rural community.

Perth to Rome

To celebrate the newly launched Perth to Rome direct flight, QANTAS hosted a cocktail event at the Westin Hotel. Guests included the Honourable Mark McGowan BA LLB MLA Premier of Western Australia, Mr Richard Goyder Chairman of QANTAS Group, Mr Alan Joyce CEO of QANTAS Group, Ms Pip Harrison CEO of Tourism Australia, Mr Emanuele Attanasio Country Manager Aus & NZ Visit Italia and the Right Honourable Basil Zempilas Mayor of City of Perth.

Marking QANTAS’ return to Italy after more than a decade and a half, the initial flight on June 25th will see the beginning of the thrice-weekly service – the first non-stop connection between Australia and Continental Europe. Set to last 16hours and 25minutes, the route is expected to attract more than 3,700 extra visitors to Perth over the next two years.
