State of Excellence: Defence Industries

The Governor’s final State of Excellence dinner – aimed to celebrate West Australian achievement while bringing together leaders and experts from a chosen field of interest to consider and plan for the future of their industry – was held this evening at Government House. Following on from successful evenings discussing Medical Research, Space Technologies and Remote Operations, Arts, Culture and Tourism and Health and Life Sciences, the final topic for discussion was Defence Industries.

CDRE Ivan Ingham AM, Senior Defence Officer WA and Mr Toff Idrus OAM Executive Director of Defence West listen intently to the conversation.

Defence is a major contributor to the state’s economy and becoming increasingly important as WA emerges as a key strategic point of national security.

Mr Gregg Bohan, Programme Director, Undersea Warfare, Thales Australia chats with Mrs Joel Nevin, Director, Blacktree Technology.

Representatives from Government, the Australian Defence Force and key Defence Industries were invited to mingle and discuss opportunities for forward planning, capitalisation of connections, building and harnessing talent, global competitiveness and alternative defence options .

The dinner was well attended by some of WA’s best and brightest in the Defence Industry.
