WASO Performance: An impassioned lament for a lost world

The Governor and Ms Annus attended WASO‘s performance of Elgar’s Cello Concerto at the Perth Concert Hall.

Sir Edward William Elgar 1st Baronet OM GCVO was a famed English composer and acted as Master of the King’s Musick in 1924. His Cello Concerto was his final large-scale work. Dark and introspective, the Cello Concerto was a poignant response to the Great War.

The piece was performed by international renowned celloist Daniel Müller-Schott and was conducted by Asher Fisch – resulting in a precise and passionate rendition.

Bruckner’s majestic Symphony No.3 followed the performance.
