Showcasing local artists with AGWA and preparing for constitutional duties July 21, 2022 By Ashayla Dawn Government House has long held a mutually beneficial relationship with the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA). This relationship sees that at various intervals the artwork on display in the House is rotated, with pieces on loan from the gallery. The work of local artists adorn the walls and are viewed by international and national dignitaries, members of government and other distinguished visitors to the House. His Excellency shared his fondness of a good story and graphically striking imagery. Mrs Dawson requested a variety of styles to represent the various elements of local culture and history, including works by Indigenous artists and works in contemporary and classic styles. Preparing for constitutional duties The Governor prepares for his briefing. An important role of the Governor is to protect the Constitution and preside over the Executive Council. To prepare His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson APM for this critical task, Director General of the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) Ms Emily Roper, attended Government House today. The Governor will preside over his first meeting of the Executive Council next week.
