Kia ora; meeting with the NZ High Commissioner and a call from the Governor General July 25, 2022 By Ashayla Dawn The Governor was pleased to welcome a consort of our cousins from across the ocean to Government House today. Dame Annette King, High Commissioner of New Zealand, was accompanied by Detective Superintendent Carl McLennan, Police Liaison Officer NZ High Commission, Detective Inspector Aaron Pascoe, Police Liaison Officer Consulate-General in Sydney, Ms Caroline Ralph, First Secretary NZ High Commission and Chris Howley, Counsellor, Customs and Immigration NZ High Commission. Whilst discussions began with talk about cricket and rugby, they soon moved to joint operations in the region and the tight bond New Zealand shares with Western Australia, with over 70,500 NZ-born residents calling the State home. A call from the Governor General Later in the afternoon, the Governor received his first official call from the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd).
