Courage and selflessness – Bravery Decorations for three West Australians

The Governor-General has announced 22 Australian Bravery Decorations to recognise the courageous acts of 26 people.

Among them, three recipients are from Western Australia (see below).

The Governor joins with the Governor-General in thanking Ms Mills, Mr Carter and Mr Lush for their selflessness and bravery in putting others before themselves.

The Governor looks forward to presenting the recipients with the insignia of their decorations at an Investiture Ceremony at Government House.

Congratulations to:

 

Ms Georgina Mills

For considerable bravery during the rescue of a woman being attacked by a large dog in Katanning, Western Australia on 19 May 2021.

Mr Jesse Carter

Commended for brave conduct for his actions after his mother had a seizure while driving in Shenton Park, Western Australia on 3 November 2021.

Mr Mark Lush

Commended for brave conduct for his actions rescuing two people from flood waters in Nanga Brook, Western Australia on 7 August 2018.

 

About the Decorations

Australian Bravery Decorations recognise acts of bravery where people selflessly put themselves in jeopardy to protect the lives or property of others.

Two Australian Bravery lists are announced every year. The independent Australian Bravery Decorations Council makes recommendations to the Governor-General regarding who should be recognised and at what level of award.
