The Governor and Mrs Dawson lay a wreath in memory of the Queen. Court Mourning Day 1 September 9, 2022 By Ashayla Dawn Government House entered Day 1 of Court Mourning with the proclamation of the death of the Queen. The Governor addressed the media this morning to officially announce the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Joined by the Premier, the Governor and Mrs Dawson signed the Condolence Book and laid a wreath before opening the Ballroom and Lady Kyle Gardens to the public. Multiple dignitaries visited the House in order to add their condolences, including Dr David Honey MLA, Member for Cottesloe, Leader of the WA Liberal Party, the Consulate General of Japan Mr Toru Suzuki and the Head of the British Consulate Ms Kirsty Packer and the Vice British Consul Ms Hanna Bottrell. The Governor says a prayer for our late Queen. The Governor also attended a service for the Queen at St Georges Cathedral.
