The Governor addresses the attendees of the first day of the Queen’s Birthday Investitures. Day 1: Investiture Ceremony of Queen’s Honours 2022 September 6, 2022 By Ashayla Dawn The Governor began the day with a meeting of the Executive Council, attended by the Honourable Suzanne Mary Ellery MLC, Minister for Education and Training and Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council and the Honourable Amber-Jade Sanderson MLA BA, Minister for Health; Mental Health. The Executive Council meet in the newly repainted Dining Room. The Executive Council is the legal means of ratifying executive acts by the General and is attended by members of the WA Government. Investiture Ceremony The Governor and Mrs Dawson enter the Ballroom. Today marked the first of the 2022 Queen’s Birthday Investiture Ceremonies – recognising the outstanding work of Australians in their community or field with Australian Honours and Awards. The Governor presented appointees of the OAM (Medal of the Order of Australia). A recipient receives her award. In his speech, the Governor noted; “The conferring of Australian Honours and Awards at these ceremonies is an important part of the Governor’s role, and one that I will always look forward to. It’s a chance to stop and reflect on the good work being carried out in our community. It’s an opportunity to be inspired. And, above all, it’s a chance to celebrate and thank the people who make a difference, help others and achieve their best.” A full list of recipients can be viewed here.
