The Governor welcomed His Excellency Mr Joe Mhishi, Ambassador of Zimbabwe and Ms Victoria Chipoka, Head of Chancery, to Government House this morning. The Ambassador had recently attended the Africa Down Under Conference in Perth.

Discussions centred upon the Ambassador’s priorities for his term in office and the interest of his country in Western Australia. In particular, he mentioned the opportunity for Zimbabwean students to study in WA.

Both Zimbabwe and Western Australia boast strong agricultural and mining sectors, and it is hoped this may give rise to mutually beneficial cooperation in the future.
