Opening the Perth Royal Show

This evening, the Governor officially opened the 2022 Perth Royal Show. An event that has occurred – with only a few disturbances due to War or COVID – annually since 1834.

The event is a significant occasion on the calendar, bringing WA’s rural community to the city and showcasing the very best in Western Australian produce, product and people.

The Governor meets two men who restored a vintage steam train engine.

“This week-long extravaganza of all things agricultural is a much-loved highlight on the family calendar that for 191 years has succeeded in its mission of bringing the country to the city. Events like this one are an important reminder that although the majority of our State’s residents live in or around Perth, there is so much that happens in our regions that generates enormous wealth and adds so much to our quality of life. The Perth Royal Show is a unifying event, that brings Western Australians together.”
