Today, the Governor hosted members of the Regional Development Council at Government House. The Council is a key advisory body to the Western Australian Government on regional development issues and was established by the Regional Development Commissions Act 1993.

Discussions focused on opportunities and key priorities for economic and social development in regional WA.

The Governor and Mrs Dawson held a small welcome reception for immediate neighbours of Government House. Designed as a ‘get-to-know the neighbours’ event, it encompassed representatives from a variety of organisations and businesses adjacent to Government House.

In his address, the Governor noted the eclectic mix of architecture and heritage in the area;

“I think we often forget until we take that moment to stand back and look…just how appealing our neighbourhood hub is, and also how significant a reflection of eras past, present and future.”

The aim of the event was to unite local businesses and encourage further collaboration to better utilise and promote the Terrace.
