The Governor addresses the media about the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Statement to the media by Governor Dawson on the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II at Government House September 9, 2022 By Amelia O'Sullivan Message from His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson APM, Governor of Western Australia Media statement on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Friday 9 September 2022, Government House, Perth On behalf of all Western Australians, I have passed on our deepest condolences to His Majesty King Charles, the Queen Consort and the entire Royal Family on the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the Second. Her reign of seventy years has been a beacon of stability through decades of rapid change both here, in Great Britain and around the world. In doing her duty, she pledged her whole life to the service of Australia and the entire Commonwealth. She has fulfilled that pledge with grace, dignity and a tireless commitment to duty. We thank Her Majesty for her unwavering love for this country, a place she visited 16 times during her long and enduring reign. On seven of those occasions, Her Majesty visited Western Australia, often in the company of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. As Western Australians, we are grateful for her lifetime of service to her subjects, and for the countless years she devoted as patron to hundreds of charities and noble causes. Our thoughts, sympathies and prayers are with her family and her subjects at this difficult time. God rest our gracious and noble Queen, and long live the King.
