This morning the Governor received Her Excellency Mrs Caroline Bichet-Anthamatten, Ambassador of Switzerland and Mr Marc Montandon, Honorary Consul of Switzerland in WA The visit is Her Excellency’s first visit to Western Australia since commencing her posting in February 2022. Discussions covered the new Australian Embassy in Bern and the benefits of an exchange program for young people under 30 to live and work in our respective countries. The Governor with Her Excellency Mrs Caroline Bichet-Anthamatten, Ambassador of Switzerland Volunteering WA Garden Party International Volunteering Day is celebrated on the 5th December. Today however was all about celebrating the wonderful work of our volunteers right here in Western Australia! The Government House Gardens were a sea of red for Volunteering WA’s annual Garden Party, a wonderful opportunity to bring together some of the state’s key volunteers. This event is held annually in the Government House Gardens. The Governor addresses the 2022 Volunteering WA Garden Party guests. “Days like today are important for us to stop and thank our volunteers. On behalf of all Western Australians, thank you.” Our regional and remote areas rely heavily on the kindness of volunteers to keep towns safe and well. A lot of emergency and vital services are run by volunteers in the country and here in the city. The theme for 2022’s International Volunteer Day is Solidarity through Volunteering. Volunteering does just that, it unites people of all walks of life for a common cause.
