Investiture of the Governor into the Order of St John January 31, 2023 By Adam Brouwer This morning the Governor and Mrs Dawson were joined by family members for an investiture ceremony that saw the Governor admitted as a Knight of Grace in the Order of St John, and instalment as the Knight Commander of the Order of St John, Commandery of Western Australia of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. The appointment as Knight Commander follows in the tradition of previous Governors who have performed this role and involves representing St John at official events and holds the authority to invest new members and bestow promotions. It is considered the highest rank in the Commandery of Western Australia. The Order of St John worldwide is a major international charity with over 200,000 dedicated volunteers. It has over 900 years of history of making a real difference to the lives of people in the community and promotes physical, and mental health and resilience in more than 35 countries. Each Year, St John organisations globally train more than 2 million people in first aid and other healthcare activities. Worldwide, they treat over 1.2 million and reach more than 2.5 million beneficiaries with healthcare services and programmes.
