Building ties with the UK, getting to know the Bahá’í Community of WA, and Swearing-In Mr Mark Ritter SC

Meeting with the new British Consul General Western Australia

As the first British Consul General for WA in over 20 years, Tina Redshaw was welcomed to Government House this morning by the Governor and Mrs Dawson.  

Together with Linda Miles (Senior Trade Specialist for Energy and Low Carbon Transition with Scottish Development International), and Conor McLaughlin (Trade & Investment Officer for Western Australia at the Department of International Trade (DIT) within the UK Government), discussions centred around relationships between the United Kingdom and Western Australia.

With a focus on trade, resources and economic partnerships, this will no doubt be the first of many meetings aimed at strengthen and developing WA and UK partnerships.

The new British Consul General Tina Redshaw was welcomed to Government House this morning by the Governor and Mrs Dawson.

Bahá’í Community of WA

The Governor was pleased to meet with members of the Bahá’í community today. Mrs Courtney Males, Dr Amir Abadi, Mrs Radostina Mihaylova and Mr Jacob Baron called on the Governor this morning to discuss their faith and presence in Western Australia. There are currently 2,600 followers of the Bahá’í faith in WA. The Governor enjoyed discussing a shared interest in community building and volunteering. 

Next year the Bahá’í Community of WA  will celebrate their 100th anniversary.

Swearing in of Mr Mark Ritter SC as Judge of the District Court of Western Australia

This afternoon Mr Mark Ritter SC was joined by family as he was sworn in by the Governor as a Judge of the District Court of Western Australia, Judge of the Children’s Court of Western Australia, and Commissioner of the Supreme Court of Western Australia.

Mr Ritter, a Barrister for much of his legal career, has practised in multiple areas including industrial and employment law, criminal law and native title.
