Celebrating WA’s top students

This evening the Governor and Mrs Dawson hosted the annual Schools Curriculum and Standards Authority Awards Ceremony in the Ballroom at Government House.
 
50 outstanding students received General Exhibition Awards and many more high achievers were recognised in other categories.
 
Jessica Doan and Ashton Fowler were also formally acknowledged as Beazley Medal winners.
 
In his address, the Governor encouraged the assembled group of high academic achievers to
 
“…have the courage to deviate from your path and follow your instincts.”
 
The Governor also thanked teachers for the role they play in supporting students. His Excellency made special mention of one of his inspirational teachers at Perth Modern School, Mrs Bobby O’Sullivan.
 
The Governor and Mrs Dawson spent time talking with students and their families after the ceremony.
