Perron Institute Inaugural Byron Kakulas Medals

As Perron Institute Patron, the Governor this evening presented two inaugural Byron Kakulas Medals.

The awards recognise individuals and teams that have made significant advancements in medical research, clinical practice, service delivery or community outreach to improve the health and wellbeing of the Western Australian community.

Congratulations to Professor Dao-Yi Yu AM (for a revolutionary glaucoma intervention) at the Lions Eye Institute and the team award winners: Professor Britta Regli-von Ungern-Sternberg, Professor Lee Yong Lim and Assoc Professor David Sommerfield (for palatable pain relief for children). They are part of the Perioperative Medicine Team, a collaboration between the Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine Department Perth Children’s Hospital and Health Service and UWA Research Laboratory for Drug Delivery and Telethon Kids Institute.
