13th Annual President’s Cup Cricket Match

The diversity of cricket in Western Australia was on show at the WACA ground this afternoon for the 13th President’s Cup.

The annual match between the Governor’s XI and the Lord’s Taverners XI is an important fixture on the WA Cricket schedule, with players selected from a broad cross-section of key WA Cricket stakeholders, the cricket community and the community in general – featuring players from both male and female programs, along with Aboriginal, multicultural and disability programs.

The Governor presented the players with their commemorative caps and inspected the pitch before play got underway. It was a nail biter, the Governor’s XI set a target of 123 runs in the Twenty20 format match. It came down to the line with the Lord’s Taverners XI getting the win.

The WA Cricket Association and Lord’s Traverners WA, both patronages of the Governor, work together to give young and disadvantaged people from within our communities the opportunity to play cricket.
