Discussing investment and trade in Berlin

Following discussions in Perth with the German Ambassador to Australia His Excellency Dr Markus Ederer, the Governor met with Dr Jorg Kukies, German State Secretary and Economic Advisor to Chancellor Scholtz in Berlin. 

They were joined by Australian Ambassador to Germany His Excellency Philip Green OAM. 

The Governor and Dr Kukies discussed the socio-political situation in Germany particularly in the context of the war in Ukraine and resultant impact on oil and gas supplies. 

The discussion also centred on opportunities for WA as a valuable destination for German industrial and economic investment and sourcing of rare earths including lithium. 

Germany has committed to sourcing alternate energy supplies with a particular interest in green hydrogen.  

The Governor and Mrs Dawson meet German MPs, business and arts leaders who have ties to Australia.

Ambassador Philip Green hosted a meeting to connect the Governor and Mrs Dawson with German Members of Parliament, business and arts leaders who have ties to Western Australia. 

The Governor will host a German delegation at Government House next month and is keen to see further investment and trade opportunities between Germany and Western Australia.
