Governor and Mrs Dawson with Dr Kully Kaur-Ballagan from the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood

Discussing the importance of early childhood education

The Governor and Mrs Dawson met with Kully Kaur-Ballagan, Director of Research at The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood in London.

Launched by The Princess of Wales in June 2021, the Centre drives awareness of and action on the extraordinary impact of the early years, in order to transform society for the future.

The early development of children and how it improves outcomes across societies and generations is of particular interest to the Governor and Mrs Dawson – whose professional career was in teaching, particularly in lower socio economic areas.

Mrs Dawson is very passionate about improving outcomes for all children through better education of parents of how important early development is to long term outcomes.

The discussion took in the work of the Perth-based Telethon Kids Institute as a world class leader in children’s health and development research.

The meeting between the Governor, Mrs Dawson and Kaur-Ballagan has opened the door to further discussions around how to better harness expertise between the UK and WA.
