Executive Council meeting and the first official visit by the Ambassador of Norway

Her Excellency, Ms Anne Grete Riise, Ambassador of Norway paid a courtesy call on deputy of the Governor, Justice Kenneth Martin this morning.

The conversation was kicked off by the Ambassador acknowledging International Women’s Day and the importance of equality for our future. It’s not surprising that Norway ranked third in the 2021 World Economic Forum on Gender Equality with inspiring leaders such as the Ambassador setting great examples for future leaders. Her Excellency spoke of the great importance Norway has placed on equality and outlined some of the initiatives in place to continue the change.

The Ambassador also discussed Norway’s focus on green initiatives and renewable energy, and the partnerships that could be further developed with Western Australia.

Her Excellency looks forward to visiting Western Australia many times throughout her posting and exploring from the top to the bottom of our wonderful State.

Executive Council

Justice Martin also presided over a meeting of the Executive Council. The Honourable Rita Saffioti BBus MLA, Minister for Transport Planning and Ports, and the Honourable Sabine Winton BA BPS MLA, Minister for Early Childhood Education, Child Protection, Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence and Community Services were in attendance.
