Promoting Western Australia in Dublin

The Governor and Mrs Dawson have recently visited Dublin, Ireland where they continued to promote the employment and lifestyle opportunities in Western Australia as part of a state government jobs and skills campaign.

One of the Dublin events focused on the recruitment of police officers to fill vacancies in the Western Australian Police Force.

The Governor took the opportunity to speak to attendees about life as a Police Officer in WA and the benefits of living in our great state.

His Excellency enjoyed speaking with Scottish Police Officer Stuart Dunsmore who was so keen to learn more about life in the WA Police that he made the trip from Edinburgh to Dublin for the event.

While in Ireland, The Governor and Mrs Dawson attended a dinner with His Excellency, Mr Gary Gray, Australia’s Ambassador to Ireland. The dinner was an important opportunity to advance Australia’s bilateral and economic relationship with Ireland.

Guests included some key Irish business leaders with ties to Australia.

The Governor and Mrs Dawson also visited Trinity College, where they were guided by Ms Susie Bioletti, Keeper of Presevation and Conservation at the Library of Trinity College Dublin.

Originally from Australia, Ms Bioletti has been living and working in Dublin for about 20 years.

The Governor and Mrs Dawson enjoyed visiting the Library with Ms Bioletti, and learning about the significance of the Library’s collection of early Irish gospel books which includes the Book of Kells.
