Josh Kennedy and the Governor Learning more about the work of the JK Foundation April 28, 2023 By Adam Brouwer Retired West Coast Eagle star Josh Kennedy paid a visit to Government House today updating the Governor on his recently established JK Foundation, which aims to help regional youth reach their full potential.Joined by the Foundation’s Sean Dixon, the pair briefed the Governor on their programs and initiatives that focus on supporting young people between the ages of 12 and 18.Established late last year the Foundation has already directly helped 18 Midwest youth pursue their sporting dreams via travel and financial assistance so they can compete in competitions in Perth, interstate and internationally – including helping with travel costs for a young Geraldton acrobat selected to be a part of the National Youth Circus, assisting a Geraldton teen to represent Western Australia at the Australian National Table Tennis Championships, a Midwest basketballer selected for the State’s U15’s country team, and supporting a young Taekwondo athlete to travel overseas to compete on the world stage. The JK Foundation is also working with other state organisations, local councils and businesses to help provide mentoring support and student character development programs to Midwest schools and students. With the development of young leaders a key priority area for the Governor, he was particularly keen to hear more about the Foundation’s plans for future rollout of their programs across all of WA and their passion for helping connect young people with longer term pathways for career development and success. You can connect with the JK Foundation to find out more here.
