Meeting the Ambassador of Egypt, receiving a defence update

Meeting the Ambassador of Egypt

In his first official visit to Western Australia, His Excellency Mr Mahmoud Zayed, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Western Australia, this morning met with the Governor.

The Ambassador took up his post in 2019, but COVID affected his ability to visit Western Australia before now.

The Governor and the Ambassador discussed the importance of furthering links between WA and Egypt in the areas of energy, agriculture and education.

The Ambassador’s visit to WA includes a function with members of Perth’s Egyptian community.

Discussing vulnerable people in our communities

After meeting Megan Krakouer from the National Suicide Prevention & Trauma Recovery Project at another event, the Governor was keen to learn more about the important suicide prevention work they’re doing across Australia.

Visiting Government House Ms Krakouer explained how the volunteer service that started in 2019 has now assisted more than 19,000 of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
