Festal Choral Evensong service at St George’s Cathedral

The Coronation celebrations continued into Sunday, with the Lieutenant Governor, the Hon Chief Justice Peter Quinlan and Mrs Lucette Quinlan attending a Festal Choral Evensong service at St George’s Cathedral.

Open to all, the event was attended by hundreds of people, who were keen to mark the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla here in Perth.

Barry Winmar provided a moving Welcome to Country, and The Most Reverend Kay Goldsworthy AO, Archbishop of Perth delivered the afternoon’s sermon, before the Lieutenant Governor gave his address.

He provided insight into the genius of the evolution of the Crown, before reading a message from His Excellency the Hon Chris Dawson AC APM, who was unable to attend in person.

I was honoured to be invited to attend the service at Westminster Abbey, and as you know, I’m currently in London after accepting the invitation on behalf of Western Australia.

Our new sovereign has dedicated his life to serving the Commonwealth. He has shown his commitment to our nation through his tireless work as patron of many Australian charities and organisations, and we know he will continue his work for the betterment of our nation and our people.
