Government House goes yellow for National Road Safety Week

Government House went yellow for the Australia-wide launch of National Road Safety Week.

In the 10th year of the campaign, Western Australia this year hosts the campaign, starting with the official launch from the Government House Ballroom and continuing with events around the state for the week.

The 2023 theme is centred on remembering the 1,200 lives that are lost and more than 40,000 serious injuries that occur on Australian roads each year.

During the launch, a WA Police Force piper and the Governor led a procession through the grounds past 175 lanterns lit in memory of the 175 people lost on WA roads last year. Government House also joins more than 40 iconic WA building and landmarks illuminated yellow for the campaign.

Running from 14-21 May, each day of the campaign has a different theme focused on raising awareness of the impacts of road crashes on our community and promoting the importance of safe road use.
