Launch of the Salvos Red Shield Appeal

As Patron of the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, the Governor, together with Mrs Dawson have worked alongside the Salvos, a crucial community organisation for many years – in his previous role as Police Commissioner, and Mrs Dawson through her various roles in education.

They both showed their support for the appeal at the official launch this morning at Optus Stadium.

The Red Shield Appeal runs from April to June each year, with the national ‘doorknock’ and ‘digital doorknock’ taking place this weekend, 20 and 21 May.

As Patron of the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, the Governor encouraged everyone to get behind the appeal.

In every moment of need…woven into every aspect of care for our community…you can be sure of one thing – the salvos will roll up their sleeves and get stuck in to help.

But they cannot do it alone – they need us to also get stuck in, to roll up our own sleeves in whatever way we can to support…and to act.
