Receiving an update on the new Aboriginal Cultural Centre Project (ACCP) May 15, 2023 By Adam Brouwer Key representatives from the Aboriginal Cultural Centre Project (ACCP), Jodie Hanns MLA – Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier, Chair of the ACCP Steering Committee, Kate Alderton – Principal Project Director, Aboriginal Cultural Centre Project, and Veronica Jeffery – Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Premier, came to Government House today and provided an update on the progress of the world-class project. The Centre is a future neighbour to Government House and the Governor and Mrs Dawson were keen to hear how everything is progressing and offer support as it comes to life.Announced by the Premier in August 2022, the site was chosen primarily because of its connection to the Swan River (Derbarl Yerrigan), Heirisson Island (Matta Gerup) and Kings Park (Katta Koomba), which are places of cultural significance to Noongar people. The completed cultural centre will become a spiritual place of story-telling to promote healing and understanding.
