The Hon Chief Justice Peter Quinlan with the Governor 27th November 2019 • Governor swears-in Chief Justice as Lieutenant Governor November 27, 2019 By Adele Hollywood The Governor conducted a swearing-in ceremony for the Honourable Chief Justice Peter Quinlan to be Lieutenant Governor. The Lieutenant Governor serves as deputy to the Governor of Western Australia and fulfills the functions of the Governor’s role in the Governor’s absence. The Honourable Peter Quinlan was appointed to the Supreme Court of Western Australia on 13 August 2018 as a Judge of the Court, a Judge of the Court of Appeal and as the Chief Justice of Western Australia.
