The Governor delivered an address at Teach for Australia’s 10th anniversary celebration.
For the past decade, Teach for Australia (external link) has filled teacher shortages in disadvantaged schools by recruiting outstanding professionals and training them to be inspiring teachers and leaders.
In WA, that has resulted in 172 placements of teachers in 43 partner schools in remote and rural areas since 2015. It has involved school partnerships and the support of the Department of Education. 45 per cent are teachers of STEM subjects; science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
