8th November 2019 • Met with Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands November 8, 2019 By Adele Hollywood The Governor met with the Hon Manasseh Damukana Sogavare, Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands and his wife Madame Emmy Sogavare, accompanied by Mr Roderick Brazier, Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands and Mr Walter Diamana, Acting High Commissioner of Papua New Guinea to Australia. The Hon Manasseh Sogavare was elected as Prime Minister to the Solomon Islands in April 2019. He leads the Democratic Coalition for Advancement. Mr Sogavare has served as Prime Minister three times before and was also the Deputy Prime Minister for the outgoing administration. Australia has a deep and longstanding relationship with Solomon Islands. People-to-people and business links continue to grow steadily and there are estimated to be around 1,500 Australians in Solomon Islands, mainly in Honiara.
