An event to showcase WA Farmers, delivering a Keynote Defence Address and a meeting with Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan

The Governor officially opened the ‘Farmer on Your Plate’ event in Forrest Chase today, an annual showcase of WA’s farming and agri-tourism.

The event is aimed at creating a stronger connection between regional producers and city consumers, and encourages all West Aussies to champion farming and support the continued production of high-quality WA food.

The Governor was hosted by Farming Champions Chair and farmer Nicola Kelliher and enjoyed a walking tour to meet with many of the WA producers on show.

Following a Welcome to Country by Gail Wynne, and performances by Wesley College’s Moorditj Mob, the Governor encouraged visitors to stop and chat with the many farmers on show and get a better understanding of what it takes to get first-class produce from WA farms to our plates. He also thanked farmers and the Farming Champions network for their commitment and passion to such a vital WA industry.

WA-European Defence Industry Annual Breakfast

Earlier in the day the Governor delivered a keynote address to the West Australian European Defence Industry Annual Breakfast and Forum, an annual event as part of WA European Business Week.

The Governor was a guest of the West Australian Business Association (WAEBA), a not-for-profit association advocating for pro-active engagement with the WA business community to foster WA’s relationship with Europe as a Trade Block.

The event also featured addresses by visiting European Union Ambassador to Australia, His Excellency Mr Michael Pulch, the Netherlands Ambassador to Australia, Her Excellency Ms Marion Derckx and the Croatian Ambassador to Australia, Her Excellency Ms Betty Bernardica Pavelich, who the Governor met with at Government House earlier in the week.

In his address the Governor spoke of his understanding of the need for strong defence-industry partnerships between Western Australia and Europe and encouraged those in the room to continue to search for strategic and investment opportunities.
