Arts, podcasts, farewells, catch-ups and government business – all in a day’s work for the Governor

A celebration in recognition of the work of Regional Arts WA was held at Government House with the Governor acknowledging the efforts of members and supporters of this key not-for-profit organisation.

Regional Arts WA works hard to represent, support and promote arts communities and hubs across the state, with the Governor agreeing to be their Patron earlier this year.

“The work Regional Arts WA does in strengthening and celebrating our regional communities is very close to my heart,” said the Governor. “Positively reinforcing a community’s sense of self-worth through art and art hubs is a massive contribution to this state”

Farewell to the Consul General of India in Perth

A chance today to say farewell and thank you to Miss Dantu Charandasi, Consul General of India in Perth. Miss Charandasi took charge as Consul General of India in WA and the NT in August 2019, with her term here coming to an end.

The Governor today met with Miss Charandasi before she returns to India at the end of the month.

Welcoming Senator Penny Wong to Government House 

The Governor also met with Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs the Honourable Penny Wong, who is visiting WA from South Australia.

Senator Wong, who is also Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, popped in for a chat with the Governor during a quick trip to WA to meet with various Federal Labor Candidates.

A Meeting of Executive Council

The Governor presided over Executive Council first thing, joined by the Honourable Sue Ellery MLC, Minister for Education and Training; Leader of the Legislative Council of Western Australia, and the Honourable John Carey MLA, Minister for Housing; Local Government. Also in attendance was Clerk of the Executive Council Ms Viv Molan.

Talking Perth on a podcast

The Governor headed to WA Business News to be part of a podcast in association with Committee for Perth.

Hosted by Business News’s Sean Cowan and Committee for Perth’s Marion Fulker, the Governor was joined by Dr Richard Walley OAM and Professor Colleen Hayward AM for the podcast which will air at a later date.
