Centenary celebration for Access Plus, special Executive Council, meeting with the Australia-Japan Research Centre and a catch-up with Channel 9’s Clive Bingwa

Happy 100th birthday to Access Plus WA Deaf, with the Governor today welcoming guests from this important community organisation to a celebratory afternoon tea.

Access Plus WA Deaf has been supporting the Deaf and Hard of Hearing since 1921, and as Patron the Governor offered his congratulations to all involved on the difference they have made to the WA community and the services they offer, which include interpreting, support services, NDIS advocacy and navigation, and Auslan and training.

Following the afternoon tea, guests were taken on a behind-the-scenes tour of Government House which included some history lessons courtesy of the Governor in his study.

Special Executive Council

The Governor spent some time with representatives from the Australia-Japan Research Centre based at the Australian National University.

Centre Director Associate Professor Shiro Armstrong and Mr Dalin Hamilton met with the Governor to discuss a major report they have been commissioned to undertake looking at Australia’s current engagement with Japan and ideas on how it can be reimagined and positioned in the future.

Catch-up with Channel Nine Perth’s Managing Director

The Governor and Ms Annus finished the day catching-up with Channel Nine Perth’s Managing Director Clive Bingwa.

The dinner was a chance to chat more about the Governor’s program, and for the Governor to also express his appreciation for Channel Nine’s wonderful support of the inaugural backyard cricket match held earlier this year at Government House.
