‘Conversations at Government House’ – WAAPA’s Executive Dean, Professor David Shirley

There’s not too many West Australians who haven’t heard of WAAPA – the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Its reputation here, and right around the globe is one of excellence, and it is well known for launching the careers of so many of the nation’s top performing arts and production talent.

The man who carries WAAPA’s continued success on his shoulders is its Executive Dean, Professor David Shirley.

In this chat with the Governor we get an insightful snapshot of his brilliant theatre career, his passion for teaching and training, his ambitions and plans for the continued rise of WAAPA, and what the move into the city as part of Edith Cowan University’s (ECU) $695 million City Campus development will mean to this world-class Academy.

We invite you to sit in on this Conversation with the Governor to learn more about the man behind WAAPA.
